This site reflects my interest in Scandinavian Military History of the second half of the 17th Century and the beginning of the 18th Century. My interests include the campaigns and battles, the uniforms, as well as the colors and standards of the armies of Sweden, Denmark-Norway, Saxony, Russia, Poland, and Brandenburg-Prussia. Information is added as time and resources permit.I took this site down in September 2008. It had been on the Internet for over 10 years and I thought it had outlived its usefulness; but much to my surprise, I received a number of emails requesting that I reopen the site. So, here it is again. I hope it continues to be useful. A number of pages, however, were in desperate need of updating and revision. I have completed most of them, but a few remain, particularly the Saxon ones. I am working on these and hope to have them completed in the coming months. I am also working on the Saxon Army 1682-1697 and the Brandenburg Army 1672-1679, but have no idea when these will be completed.
I have never really mastered the intricacies of web page design, so I have decided to stick with my old program. I realize that it lacks the "glitz" of more modern programs, but my emphasis here is on sharing the information. I have, however, converted most of the old html files to pdf format in the hope that it more easily lends itself to downloading. These files are provided solely for private use only, and are not intended for sale or publication.
I would be interested in hearing from others interested in this period, and I am actively soliciating others to contribute articles or information, as well as any useful links for sites that relate to this period. Also, questions and comments are always welcome.
